Yesterday was National Video Game Day! Did you celebrate? Video games have gone from being a fun recreational activity to now being a career option through competitive E-Sports. One thing is for sure, they are not going away anytime soon.
Fans of video games took to Twitter and soon #ThanksToVideoGames was one of the top trending threads of the day. This inspired me to think about things that I am thankful for for video games.
Ever since I was a little kid, playing video games was a way to spend time with my family. As I got a little older it became something to do with friends. Now it’s something my husband and I can do together after long stressful days at work. The quality time that comes from playing games is something I’m extremely thankful for.

Kind of going along with that, it’ll also be an activity that we can do with our daughter once she gets old enough. I don’t know how many times I’ve thought about what her first game should be. Mario? Minecraft? Dark Souls? I guess I’ll let her pick.
One of the other things I’m thankful for with video games is that they taught me that it is okay to stop and take a break from the chaos of life and dive deep into a great story and explore Tamriel for the 100th time or even just take out some terrorists on Rainbow. Life can be harsh and it’s too easy to get caught up in the stress of work and financial problems. Video games offer an escape amd can help you forget about your problems for a few hours.
