Hey everybody, welcome back to another installment of Let’s Talk! I apologize for missing the last few weeks, I was down and out fighting off a mean ol cold. Now I’m the midst of my medicine induced deliriousness, I came across a goofy game that made my head spin. Now for the people that know me, know I’m one of the biggest Rick and Morty fans out there. Yet someone failed to mention Trover Saves the Universe to me! How did I now know it existed!! So welcome to this weeks Let’s Talk where we are discussing, Trover Saves the Universe!
Trover Saves the Universe is a 2019 action platform game developed by Squanch Games and published by Gearbox Publishing for Microsoft Windows, Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch,Xbox One and Oculus Quest. I just recently picked it up for the PlayStation and boy was I in for a ride. Let’s start with the story itself! Your dogs have been dognapped by a beaked lunatic who stuffed them into his eye holes and is using their life essence to destroy the universe, similar to the way you’ll access powers! That’s right, they are called Power Babies. You’re partnered with Trover, a little purple eye-hole monster who isn’t a huge fan of working or being put in the position of having to save the universe. Only you and Trover can save everything in this bizarre comedy adventure filled with combat, platforming, puzzles, and morally questionable choices created by Justin Roiland! Which adds a degree of hilariousness that just kept coming and coming.
Trover Saves the Universe is a comedy adventure filled with combat, platforming, puzzles, and morally questionable choices. One goal is to see how the best intentions can go horribly awry, for instance, I straight up killed an NPC at the start of and the game and got a trophy! You control Trover’s movements, but not his mouth. He’s got a lot to say about what’s going on in the game. What I love most about the game is you play a person who, the entire time, is sitting in a chair! And strangely holding an object similar to a gaming controller. Travel the cosmos to experience a variety of weird alien planets and bizarre characters with big personalities.Upgrade Trover AND YOURSELF with new abilities to defeat Glorkon while evading awkward situations.
If you haven’t had much in the way of comedy games I highly recommend trying this out. With an unusual play style, goofy characters and tons to explore, Trove Saves the Universe, makes one feel as if they’ve stepped off earth and followed Rick through a portal.
